Our Story

What began as a search for answers became a calling.

Through a close family connection, we were introduced to a nonspeaking individual whose first experience with spelling revealed something undeniable—intelligence, awareness, and depth that had never been seen before. Like so many others, his body had not been able to reflect what his mind already knew.

That moment confirmed what many families quietly wonder: they are in there.

This experience, paired with Katy Custer’s personal journey advocating for her own daughter and son through complex medical and neurological challenges, revealed a larger pattern—individuals being misunderstood not because of lack of ability, but because of a disconnect between the brain and the body.

What once felt isolated began to reveal itself as something much broader: a growing need for motor-based solutions that support communication, regulation, and performance.

From that realization, two paths were built—together.

MoDev8, through The Motor Development Co., was established to deliver structured, results-driven programs focused on motor development, communication, and performance. As these programs took shape, it became clear that many families faced significant financial barriers to access.

In response, the Motor Development Foundation was created to expand opportunity—helping families access these life-changing methodologies.

We recognized early that innovative approaches are not always easily funded, yet they are essential. By building both a program and a nonprofit, we created a pathway where families can receive the support they need while advancing a movement that is still emerging.

Today, this work continues to grow—driven by faith, experience, and the belief that no individual should be limited by a body that cannot yet respond.

Together, we are changing the narrative—one breakthrough, one family, and one voice at a time.
